Australian Cyber Security Legislative reforms - info and Q&A

The Australian Government has recently released a Cyber Security Strategy, which includes a consultation p​aper seeking input from Australians and businesses on cyber security and critical infrastructure security legislative reform. In addition to proposed amendments to the SOCI Act, there are four main discussion areas: secure by design standards for IoT devices, ransomware reporting, limited use obligations, and cyber incident review board.

In this session we are joined by Will Hood, Assistant Director, National Office of Cyber Security, Department of Home Affairs. The first 20-30minutes of the session, will provide a detailed overview of the proposals for the Cyber Security Bill, followed by time for Q&A.

Note: AHECS have prepared a submission on behalf of the sector, and this will be shared with Member Reps and CISOs for feedback prior to the session, with ample review time prior to the closing date of 5pm Friday 01 March 2024.
