In this session we discuss the latest developments and services offered by 3 of the AHECS partners: AAF, AUSCERT, and AARNet. This session is ideal for those who may be new to cyber in the sector to understand the services available to you, as well as those more experienced to hear about the latest developments from our partners.

AAF (Australian Access Federation): For 15 years, AAF has been providing trust and identity services to connect and protect the research and higher education sector. The AAF is Australia’s identity federation, a combination of technology and policy providing subscribers with a national single sign-on. The AAF is delivering a system-wide approach to trust and identity for the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), providing the foundations for cybersecure access to national scale FAIR and CARE data and compute.

By logging in via the AAF, end users can access a variety of services including file transfer, data storage, compute, collaboration tools and portals, scientific instrumentation, administrative systems, scholarly resources, and teaching, learning and research resources. The AAF is also leads the Australian ORCID Consortium, strengthening researchers’ connection to their research activities and contributions.

AARNet (Australian Academic and Research Network): For more than 30 years AARNet has provided reliable telecommunications services, along with an expanding range of cyber security, data and collaboration services. Our network and services are designed to meet the specialised needs of Australia's research and education sector.

AUSCERT (Australian Cyber Emergency Response Team): In the early 1990s, three Australian Universities came together and formed AUSCERT – the central source for information security and protection. Today, The University of Queensland (UQ) has embraced AUSCERT as part of its organisation. Our services include incident support, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, training & education along with governance, risk & compliance (GRC) offerings.
